Türkiye’s largest city Istanbul will suspend services at several metro stations on Sunday, June 29, as part of a precautionary move, according to an announcement by Metro Istanbul.
The closures will affect some of the busiest routes in the city. Starting from 10:00 a.m. local time, key stops on the M2 Yenikapi–Haciosman line and the M7 Yildiz–Mahmutbey line, along with the Taksim–Kabatas funicular route, will be out of operation until further notice.
Specifically, Taksim and Sisli’s Sishane stations on the M2 line will be closed. Similarly, Fulya and Yildiz stations on the M7 line will not operate. In addition, the entire Taksim–Kabatas funicular system, a short rail line used to connect central districts near the Bosphorus shoreline, will also be suspended.
Trains on the M2 line will skip Taksim and Sishane stations and continue operating between other stops. On the M7 line, service will be limited to the stretch between Mecidiyekoy and Mahmutbey.
The temporary shutdown follows a directive issued by the Istanbul Governor’s Office. Metro Istanbul stated that operations will remain suspended at the affected stations until further notice is given.
This interruption is likely to impact commuters and tourists moving through central neighborhoods of Istanbul, which include prominent commercial and historical districts. Passengers are advised to seek alternative routes during the disruption.
