Several workers were injured after scaffolding collapsed Saturday evening at a metro construction site in Istanbul’s Beyoglu district, authorities said.
The incident occurred during concrete pouring on the minus sixth floor of the M7 metro line extension near Kabatas Pier on Meclis-i Mebusan Street, en route to Besiktas.
Emergency crews, including ambulances, police, and firefighters, were dispatched to the scene.
Three workers managed to escape the collapsed section on their own, while two others were rescued by firefighters and transferred to medical teams.
Officials confirmed that no workers remained trapped under the debris following the collapse.
Meanwhile, Istanbul Provincial Health Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Emre Guner said one of the three workers injured in the collapse at the metro construction site had died.
“One of our workers who was being treated at the hospital following the collapse at the Kabatas Metro construction site has died despite all efforts," Guner said on his social media account,
