Turkish Foreign Ministry announced Monday that the Madleen, a Gaza-bound aid ship operated by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), an international nongovernmental organization, intercepted by Israeli forces, is expected to reach shore later in the evening.
Officials confirmed that all necessary consular assistance is being provided to Turkiye’s citizens aboard the vessel. Authorities are making efforts to meet with the passengers immediately upon disembarkation to secure their release.
The ministry added that they are in contact with other countries whose nationals are also on board.
Families of Türkiye’s citizens have been kept regularly informed throughout the process, the statement said.
The ministry previously described the Israeli forces’ interception of the Madleen in international waters as a clear violation of international law.
“This heinous act by the Netanyahu government threatens freedom of navigation and maritime security, once again demonstrating that Israel is acting as a terror state,” the ministry said.
It added that the international community’s rightful response to Israel’s genocidal policies, which use hunger as a weapon in Gaza and block humanitarian aid, would continue.
“Israel’s aggressive and unlawful actions will not silence those who stand up for human dignity and universal values,” the statement concluded.
