President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said NATO’s Steadfast exercise demonstrates the level reached by the Turkish Armed Forces, highlighting defense as a key agenda item at the Feb. 23 Cabinet Meeting.
Addressing the nation after the meeting at the Presidential Complex, Erdogan said defense, health and trade were among the main topics discussed.
He noted that the Steadfast exercise, which began on Feb. 20 and is described as one of NATO’s largest and most comprehensive drills, once again showcased the capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces to the world.
“The Steadfast exercise, one of NATO’s biggest and most comprehensive drills, which started on Feb. 20, once again showed the level reached by our Turkish Armed Forces to the entire world,” Erdogan said.
He congratulated the soldiers who represented the country during the drill and said, “I congratulate our soldiers who proudly represented our state and nation in the exercise and pray that God protects them.”
Erdogan also addressed the “Terror-free Türkiye” process, saying the initiative to permanently end terrorism is advancing steadily toward its goal.
“We are witnessing with great satisfaction that, together with the relatives of our martyrs, our noble nation supports the Terror-free Türkiye process that we are carrying out to permanently end terrorism,” he said.
Despite those who benefit from terrorism, the process is moving forward with firm steps toward its objective, Erdogan added.
He said the government will continue the process within the bounds of legitimacy and with maximum respect for the sensitivities of the nation.
On the occasion, Erdogan commemorated all martyrs who lost their lives for the country, nation and values, and expressed gratitude to veterans and families of martyrs on behalf of himself and the nation.
