Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the seizure of 3,476,000 cannabis and skunk plants in Diyarbakir, enough to produce 70 tons of powdered cannabis. Seven suspects were apprehended in connection with the operation.
In a statement shared on social media, Minister Yerlikaya detailed that the operation was conducted with the support of gendarmerie drones and remote sensing systems. The coordinated efforts involved the Diyarbakir Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the Prosecutor’s Offices of Lice and Hani districts, and the General Command of Gendarmerie’s Narcotics and Counter-Terrorism Departments.
The operation included 61 operational teams and 645 personnel targeting the Lice and Hani districts of Diyarbakir. Minister Yerlikaya praised the Diyarbakir Governor, the coordinating prosecutor’s offices, the Diyarbakir Gendarmerie Commander, and the gendarmerie forces involved for their successful work.
