The political dispute between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and main opposition leader Ozgur Ozel escalated this week as a new poll from Genar Research showed the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leading the opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) by 3.2 points.
The standoff began after Erdogan claimed, “According to the polls, we are the number one party.” CHP leader Ozel fired back, saying: “You don’t get to sit there with 29.2%. Come to the ballot box on November 2—let’s settle this.”
Amid the ongoing war of words, Genar released its July 2025 poll results:
The figures highlight a closely contested political landscape, with only a narrow margin separating the two top parties as Türkiye heads toward a potentially decisive election period.
The AK Party continues to top the polls despite growing criticism, while the CHP is gaining momentum under Ozel’s leadership. DEM, MHP, and others remain key players in shaping coalition possibilities.
