Poll shows rising support for opposition lawmakers in Türkiye on social issues

Research company ORC has released results of a public opinion poll conducted Sept. 12–14 in 26 provinces with 3,400 respondents, measuring public appreciation of lawmakers on social issues.
The survey ranked opposition lawmakers as most appreciated by the public on social issues. Topping the list was the main opposition Republican People’s Party's (CHP) lawmaker, Ali Mahir Basarir, from Mersin.

Basarir, known for his sharp parliamentary opposition and criticism of public tenders, has built support with strong rhetoric against alleged corruption.

Other lawmakers ranked:
- Deniz Yavuzyilmaz — 13.2%: CHP deputy from Zonguldak, known for his work on energy and budget oversight.
- Salih Uzun — 12.8%: Former Democrat Party politician, later joined CHP.
- Ridvan Uzun — 12.5%: Opposition deputy active on youth and education issues.
- Mahmut Tanal — 11.9%: CHP deputy from Sanliurfa, lawyer by profession.
- Turhan Comez — 11.8%: Good Party (Iyi Party) deputy from Balikesir, medical doctor and former Justice and Development Party (AK Party) member.
- Cemal Enginyurt — 11.5%: CHP deputy from Istanbul, previously with MHP and DP.
- Mustafa Sarigul — 11.2%: CHP deputy from Erzincan, former mayor of Sisli.
- Selcuk Ozdag — 10.6%: Future Party (GP) deputy from Mugla, academic background.
- Umut Akdogan — 10.1%: CHP deputy from Ankara, among the youngest members of Parliament.
