President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the armed attack at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington on Sunday, expressing relief that U.S. President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and others were unharmed.

He declared that "in democracies, the struggle is conducted with ideas, there is no place for any form of violence."

Erdogan posted on X: "I condemn the attempted armed attack that took place last night at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington. We are relieved that no one was harmed, especially President Trump and his dear wife Melania."

"In democracies, the struggle is conducted with ideas, there is no place for any form of violence," he stated.

"I extend my get-well wishes to President Trump, his wife, the U.S. administration and the American people," the Turkish president concluded.

The attack took place on Saturday evening at the Washington Hilton Hotel, where the annual dinner was being held.

A suspect identified by U.S. media as a 31-year-old man is in custody, and authorities are investigating his motives. A Secret Service officer was shot but protected by a bulletproof vest and is recovering, according to officials.
