President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to a statement made from the Turkish Presidency's Directorate of Communications, the Israel-Iran conflict, bilateral relations and regional issues were discussed in the call.
In the call, Erdogan stated that the spiral of violence that began with Israel's attacks on Iran put the security of the entire region at risk, that the region could not tolerate a new war, and that they were working to end the conflicts through diplomatic contacts.
Erdogan noted that the solution to the nuclear dispute with Iran was to return to the negotiation table, and emphasized that the current situation should not overshadow Gaza, otherwise, the West Bank and East Jerusalem could also face the threat of occupation.
Regional tensions have escalated since Friday, when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.
Israeli authorities said at least 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured in Iranian missile attacks since then.
Iran said at least 224 people have been killed and over 1,000 others wounded in the Israeli assault.
