President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday held a phone call with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to discuss the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Iran, expressing grave concerns over the potential regional consequences of the escalating violence.
During the conversation, Erdogan underlined that the conflict—triggered by Israel’s strikes against Iran—poses an imminent threat to regional security, warning that continued escalation could lead to a surge in migration and even risks of nuclear leakage.
The Turkish president emphasized that the resolution of Iran’s nuclear disagreements must come through diplomatic channels and called for an immediate return to negotiations.
He added that Türkiye is actively working to de-escalate tensions and restore stability in the region, and that these efforts will persist in cooperation with international partners.
