Turkish actress Serenay Sarikaya was detained Monday as part of a drug investigation targeting several well-known figures, after authorities had issued a detention order for her on May 21.
The decision came under an investigation launched by the Bakirkoy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, which ordered the detention of 25 people, including Sarikaya, in connection with the operation.
Sarikaya was reportedly outside Türkiye when the detention order was issued. After it was determined that she was abroad, she had said she would return to the country.
Following her return, Sarikaya was taken into custody on Monday.
The investigation was described as a drug-related operation involving celebrities.
The Bakirkoy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered detentions on May 21 for 25 people as part of the case.
