Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Türkiye and Syria agreed to strengthen cooperation to protect Syria's achievements during talks in Ankara, emphasizing that Syria's security cannot be separated from Türkiye's security.
Fidan met with National Defense Minister Yasar Guler and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Head Ibrahim Kalin, alongside Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra and Syrian Intelligence Chief Hussain al-Seleme in Ankara.
Fidan shared details of the meeting on his social media account following the talks on Sunday.
Fidan said they have maintained comprehensive contacts with Syria at all levels and areas following the Syrian people's attainment of freedom.
"We are in agreement with our Syrian brothers on strengthening our close coordination and cooperation to protect and advance Syria's achievements," Fidan said.
Fidan noted that the Ankara meetings allowed for a comprehensive examination of the strategic dimensions of relations.
He said they discussed common steps that can be taken to ensure Syria's security while preserving its territorial integrity fully, and that they comprehensively evaluated concrete plans.
Fidan emphasized that the Syrian administration has the determination and resolve to overcome the difficult challenges it faces.
"We do not see Syria's security as separate from Türkiye's security. On this path, we will continue to provide all kinds of support to our Syrian brothers," Fidan said.
