Ankara's 36th Civil Chamber of the Regional Court of Appeals rejected the main opposition Republican People's Party's (CHP) challenge to the precautionary injunction ordering the provisional removal of suspended chairman Ozgur Ozel from the party leadership, ruling Friday that injunctions issued by appellate courts were final and had no separate mechanism for appeal.

The chamber stated in its decision: "Since the precautionary injunction issued by our chamber is of a final nature, it has been decided to reject the request of the defendant's counsel to appeal the precautionary injunction."

Kilicdaroglu arrives at his working office, dismisses 3 party lawyers

Following the ruling, Kilicdaroglu arrived at his working office. His first act upon being reinstated was to dismiss three of the party's lawyers, with the decision communicated through a notary.

Ozel, provisionally removed but physically present, met with CHP metropolitan mayors at the general headquarters. The CHP statement noted that the mayors of Ankara and Izmir, as well as Istanbul's deputy mayor, were also en route to headquarters.

Ozel told reporters after a Central Executive Board meeting that lasted approximately five hours: "We are the homeowners here; tenants leave, homeowners stay. Those who will sit in the family home are decided by the home's true owners."

Ozel also ruled out forming a second party in response to the ruling. "A second party, a reserve party option, may be on the agenda of all political parties in Türkiye as a measure against a closure case. But we have not considered such a measure against nullity," he said.

MHP urges Kilicdaroglu to renounce reinstatement for party's sake

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli issued a statement on CNN Turk calling on Kilicdaroglu to assume what he described as a historic responsibility to meet with Ozel and declare his readiness to step aside in order to find a common formula for CHP's future, rather than use the court ruling to assert control.

"Mr. Kilicdaroglu must acknowledge that the injustice done to him has been recognized, but must also assume a historic responsibility in order not to harm, wound, or cause chaos within this deep-rooted institution he led for 13 years," Bahceli said.

"Within the framework permitted by law, he should meet with Mr. Ozgur Ozel and declare his willingness to step aside in order to build a common formula for CHP's future. This outcome will be to the benefit of both CHP and our country," he added.

Bahceli said both leaders' initial statements following the ruling pointed toward unity and that this should be translated into the collective party's will.

"Our wish is that instead of forming crowds and issuing mutual challenges, both leaders come together and, within the framework provided by the laws, the party charter and the court ruling, show the necessary sacrifices and find a common path that serves CHP's interests, and do so without delay and without causing social or intra-party disorder," Bahceli stated.

He warned that power struggles and factional clashes within CHP "could open wounds that are impossible to heal" at a time when Türkiye faces a ring of regional instability.

"CHP must not be left in a state where it can be used for different purposes," Bahceli said.
