Devlet Bahceli, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), issued strong statements on both domestic and foreign political issues on Saturday, drawing attention to the crisis in Gaza and criticizing opposition leaders in Türkiye.

Speaking on the ongoing violence in Gaza, Bahceli said international law is being trampled and accused Israel of unrestrained aggression. “The world has rarely witnessed serial killings and mechanized massacres like those in Gaza,” he said.

He cited findings from the United Nations Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), which indicated acute food insecurity in Gaza has reached its highest level, warning of a humanitarian disaster comparable to the Bengal famine of 1943.

Ukraine-Russia tensions

Bahceli also addressed tensions between Ukraine and Russia, emphasizing that calls for peace and dialogue by Türkiye’s President, particularly through Istanbul, should be seen as a hopeful sign for resolving escalating conflicts.

He criticized Western diplomatic efforts, noting that prioritizing Ukraine over Gaza exposes double standards in the international community.

Türkiye’s role in regional peace

Bahceli emphasized Türkiye’s proactive role in regional stability and humanitarian relief. He called for immediate measures against Israel, including suspending arms shipments, halting diplomatic relations, enforcing economic sanctions, and deploying a United Nations Peacekeeping Force to Gaza.

He stressed that Türkiye’s efforts to maintain internal stability and promote peace in conflict zones reflect the nation’s commitment to human rights and international responsibility.

National unity and domestic policy

Bahceli highlighted the importance of national unity, stating that the People's Alliance is founded on moral, spiritual, and patriotic values. “Attempts to undermine the alliance will fail,” he said.

He also reiterated Türkiye’s internal objectives for peace and security, describing the nation as a protector of stability in a volatile region.

Criticism of main opposition

Bahceli launched a sharp critique of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), claiming that attempts to undermine the ruling People's Alliance are meaningless.

“The People's Alliance is growing stronger every day,” he said, asserting that no one can sow discord within the coalition.

He described the CHP as weakened by mismanagement, corruption, and a failure to produce visionary policy solutions, and accused it of fostering political instability and ideological confusion.
