Footage showing Hakki Alkan, owner of a major Turkish technology news outlet ShiftDelete, throwing a flower pot at his employee Samet Jankovic has sparked widespread attention in Türkiye.

During an argument, Alkan threw a flower pot filled with gravel at Jankovic, who had worked for him for four years. Videos circulating on social media drew significant attention, prompting statements from both parties.

Jankovic commented on the assault attempt videos: “I obtained a medical report of the assault. The process is in court. I want to make it clear that I will continue on my own path after this process. No matter what happens, every era has its man. Surely, the wheel is gonna turn."

Alkan calls flower pot filled with gravel a 'flower branch'

Alkan, however, described the object he threw as a “flower branch” and said the argument concerned internal matters. He stated: “During the discussion, unable to control my nerves, I threw the branch of a flower near me toward his desk, and it hit him."

"Thankfully, he was not harmed. I also submitted the office security camera footage showing the incident, including before and after, to the authorities," Alkan added.

Social media users criticized Alkan for referring to the flower pot as a “flower branch.”

Jankovic’s media statements also raised allegations of workplace mobbing. “None of the extra hours I worked over four years were compensated for me or my colleagues. Just recently, a raise that was promised to me was canceled. I won’t even start on the mobbing part,” he said, highlighting alleged mistreatment at the workplace.

Jankovic said he plans to provide further details about the incident and reveal "bigger news" in a video on his YouTube channel.

Following Jankovic’s official complaint, the case has been referred to the judiciary. Authorities are expected to review statements from both parties and the footage, after which the prosecutor’s office will launch an investigation.
