Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit the United Arab Emirates on Sept. 28 for talks expected to focus on bilateral strategic cooperation, Gulf security, maritime navigation, Yemen, and developments in Gaza and Lebanon, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources.
During the visit, Fidan is expected to review preparations for the second meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council.
He is also expected to reaffirm Türkiye's full solidarity with the UAE, described as one of the countries most adversely affected by the war in the Gulf.
Fidan is expected to argue that outside intervention in the region has contributed to prolonging conflicts and stress the need to strengthen regional ownership in addressing disputes.
Fidan is expected to emphasize the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab Strait for regional and global stability.
He is also expected to say that a unified Yemen that has achieved peace and stability is critical to security in the Middle East.
In Gaza, Fidan is expected to call for moving without delay to the second phase of the Peace Plan, improving humanitarian conditions and beginning reconstruction efforts.
Türkiye and the UAE are among the founding members of the Peace Board, whose work is also expected to be discussed during the visit.
Fidan is also expected to stress the importance of a determined and coordinated international response to preserve and make permanent the ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon in the face of Israeli attacks.
Türkiye and the UAE have maintained a strategic partnership since 2023.
The first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council, established the same year, was held at the leaders' level in Ankara on July 16, 2025.
The UAE is the Gulf country with the largest investment presence in Türkiye and Türkiye's biggest trading partner in the Gulf.
Bilateral trade volume reached $19.346 billion in 2025.
Fidan last visited the UAE on March 20, 2026.
