Türkiye is enhancing the capabilities of its nationally developed missile and weapon systems while accelerating mass production.

Roketsan will undertake significant responsibilities under $6.5 billion in contracts signed with the Presidency of Defense Industries for the development and serial production of air defense and missile systems, including strengthening the “Steel Dome” integrated air defense system.

Roketsan General Manager Murat Ikinci said work continues on testing and serial production of various versions of Tayfun, Türkiye’s longest-range ballistic missile developed with national resources.

He noted that Tayfun offers high precision, hypersonic speeds, rapid deployment and strong electronic warfare resistance, and that new variants are under development.

Directed-energy weapon Alka gains upgrades

Ikinci highlighted upgrades to the Alka Directed Energy Weapon System, which neutralizes drone threats with a laser weapon.

Serial production began in 2023, and Alka is used to protect critical facilities.

The system has been enhanced to counter fast and agile FPV drones, providing low-cost, precise and sustainable defense against asymmetric threats.

Roketsan is advancing Akata, the submarine-launched version of the Atmaca anti-ship missile.

Ikinci said Akata, with a range of up to 250 kilometers, will strengthen Türkiye’s maritime defense, with integration and serial production activities ongoing.

Roketsan records growth in output, exports and R&D

Ikinci said 2025 marked technological progress and increased global visibility.

Roketsan delivered numerous systems, expanded R&D investments to over 10.5 billion ($247.09 million) and showcased more than 60 systems at IDEF 25.

He noted strong financial performance, with 2024 revenue rising 45% in dollar terms and exports exceeding $380 million.

Roketsan now employs over 6,500 personnel, including more than 3,000 in R&D.

Plans for 2026: Higher capacity and stronger capabilities

For 2026, Ikinci said Roketsan will prioritize meeting Turkish Armed Forces needs, increasing serial production capacity and expanding export-oriented growth.

He added that the company aims to strengthen localization, expand human resources and advance technologies shaping future defense capabilities.
