Türkiye and Algeria signed a series of agreements in Ankara on Thursday in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The agreements were signed after Erdogan and Tebboune held a one-on-one meeting and chaired the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council between the two countries.
Erdogan and Tebboune signed the joint declaration of the council’s first meeting.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Algerian State, Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs Minister Ahmed Attaf signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in postal services and telecommunications between Türkiye’s Transport and Infrastructure Ministry and Algeria’s Post and Telecommunications Ministry.
Fidan and Algerian Interior, Local Authorities and Transport Minister Said Sayoud also signed an agreement on international passenger and goods transport.
Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas and Attaf signed a memorandum of understanding on the welfare of independence veterans and the relatives of martyrs.
Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci and Sayoud signed an agreement on the mutual recognition and exchange of driving licenses.
Ciftci and Sayoud also signed a memorandum of understanding on disaster and emergency management.
Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir and Algerian Industry Minister Yahia Bachir signed a memorandum of understanding between the two countries’ industry ministries.
They also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in standardization, conformity assessment and training.
Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli and Algerian Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries Minister Yacine El Mahdi Oualid signed an agreement on cooperation in plant protection and plant quarantine.
Trade Minister Omer Bolat and Algerian Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Minister Kamel Rezig signed a joint declaration on launching negotiations for a preferential trade agreement.
Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran and Attaf signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in combating disinformation in the media.
Ahmet Burak Daglioglu, head of the Presidency Investment and Finance Office, and Omar Rekkache, director general of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, signed a memorandum of understanding on investment promotion cooperation.
TRT Director General Zahid Sobaci and Algeria’s Ambassador to Türkiye Boumediene Guennad signed two memoranda of understanding between Algeria’s Radio Corporation and the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation.
The agreements cover cooperation in television and radio.
