Türkiye’s Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) Friday has imposed an access ban on numerous social media platforms, including widely used chat and dating applications such as Azar, LivU, and Tango.
The decision was approved by Ankara’s 3rd and 4th Criminal Judgeships of Peace. Among the platforms blocked are Flirtfy, CoMeet, Camsurf, Roulette Chat, and LivCam.
BTK announced that access restrictions were imposed on a large number of social media applications, with the court decision formally sealing the move.
EngelliWeb, a project of the Freedom of Expression Association that tracks blocked websites, news outlets, and social media content, confirmed that the popular chat apps Azar, LivU, and Tango were among those restricted.
