Türkiye has been elected to the presidency of the Association of Agricultural Research Institutions in the Near East and North Africa (AARIENEA) for the first time, Agriculture and Forestry Minister Ibrahim Yumakli announced Tuesday.
Yumakli described the development as an important step for Türkiye in the field of agricultural diplomacy, noting the country’s growing role in regional and international agricultural cooperation.
Announcing the decision on his social media account, Yumakli said Türkiye’s election marks a new phase of leadership within the organization.
“Türkiye has been elected to the AARIENEA presidency for the first time,” Yumakli said.
“Institutions within the union that conduct agricultural research and develop new technologies and production techniques will carry out their activities under our country’s leadership during this period.”
He concluded by offering his congratulations.
