Türkiye has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives and many injuries caused by the terrorist attack that took place today (June 28) in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province," the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a written statement.
"We strongly condemn this heinous attack, wish Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured," the statement added, emphasizing Ankara's continued solidarity with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
According to initial reports, 13 soldiers lost their lives in the bombing attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, while 24 people, including civilians, were injured.
The Pakistani army later reported that 14 terrorists were killed in subsequent military operations.
Senior Turkish officials expressed condolences and solidarity with Pakistan in the wake of the attack.
Türkiye's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala condemned the assault via social media, stating, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives caused by this heinous attack. We condemn this act of terrorism and extend our condolences to the people and government of Pakistan. May Allah grant mercy to those who lost their lives and swift recovery to the injured."
AK Party Spokesperson Omer Celik echoed similar sentiments, writing, "We condemn this terrorist attack. Our hearts and support are with our brotherly nation, Pakistan."
Fahrettin Altun, Türkiye's head of the Directorate of Communications, also strongly condemned the terror attack and said, "We pray for Allah's mercy on our brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the attack, extend our condolences to their families and the people of Pakistan, and wish a speedy recovery to those injured."
"As Türkiye, we will, as always, stand by our friend and brother Pakistan, continuing to provide all kinds of support to our brothers and sisters," he added.
The attack occurred in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where a bomber targeted the military convoy with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, according to a local government official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the incident publicly.
The blast's impact extended beyond the military target, causing structural damage to nearby residential areas. "The explosion also caused the roofs of two houses to collapse, injuring six children," a police officer stationed in the district told Agence France-Presse (AFP).
