Türkiye daily, one of Türkiye’s leading newspapers, issued what it described as a “final call” for Gaza, urging immediate international action in its Sept. 23 edition.
“Time is running out for Gaza; it is not enough only to recognize, action is needed,” the newspaper wrote. “As a newspaper, we are making the ‘Final Call’ in eight languages: Symbolic recognition is not enough; act now.”
The newspaper said the world’s eyes are on the United States as the United Nations General Assembly convenes for its 80th session, with Gaza on the agenda.
It noted that France, Belgium, Monaco, Luxembourg and Malta announced recognition of Palestine at the U.N., joining more than 150 countries that have taken the same step. But recognition alone, the paper argued, will not stop the war.
“Israel must be cornered with sanctions,” it said. “According to official figures, 65,000 civilians have been massacred. The U.N. says the loss is 10 times greater.”
Calling the New York summit the final opportunity to halt Israel’s attacks, Türkiye daily warned that Gaza itself could vanish if the world does not act.
“If the world does not take concrete steps to stop the killing of babies and children and once again cannot say ‘stop’ to Israel, perhaps next year there will be no place called Gaza,” the paper wrote.
Reiterating its message, the daily said, “As a newspaper, we are making the ‘Final Call’ in eight languages: Symbolic recognition is not enough; act now. Otherwise, history will record you, and this system that remains silent in the face of oppression, with shame.”
