The Republic of Türkiye’s Directorate of Communications denied social media allegations that the cybersecurity system of the Turkish Armed Forces' General Staff has been entrusted to a company allegedly linked to the Israeli military.
The claim was circulated by social media user Metin Cihan, who asked, "Did you know that the General Staff’s firewall was entrusted to an Israeli company directly connected to the Israeli army?"
In a statement issued by the Center for Countering Disinformation, the directorate stated that the claim is completely false and aims to manipulate public opinion.
“The allegation that the General Staff’s security firewall has been assigned to a firm directly affiliated with the Israeli army is untrue,” the statement said.
The statement emphasized that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as commander-in-chief of the Turkish Armed Forces, has maintained a firm and clear position against Israel, whose policies Türkiye sees as a threat to regional and global peace. It also stressed that attempts to link the Turkish Armed Forces with Israel are part of a disinformation effort..
The Ministry of National Defense has previously stated that it has no relationship with the company mentioned in the claims. According to the ministry, no joint activities or affiliations exist.
Despite these clarifications, the dissemination of misleading information has reportedly continued on various platforms.
The directorate noted that sharing misleading information with the public is a criminal offense under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code.
“Any attempt to damage the reputation of the Turkish Armed Forces—a respected and valued institution—will be closely monitored, and legal action will be taken when necessary,” the statement added.
The directorate urged the public to refrain from sharing unverified information and reaffirmed its commitment to combating disinformation.
