Türkiye has detained seven suspects wanted on Interpol Red Notices and two others sought nationally, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Monday.
Yerlikaya said the fugitives were captured in coordinated operations carried out with authorities in Germany, the United States, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran and Greece.
He noted that teams from Türkiye’s Interpol–Europol Department, the Justice Ministry, intelligence units and police departments for anti-smuggling, organized crime, narcotics, and public security worked together to track and return the suspects.
According to Yerlikaya, the detentions included three suspects apprehended in Germany on charges ranging from intentional killing to sexual offenses.
Another suspect wanted for aggravated sexual assault was arrested in the United States, while a fugitive sought for qualified child sexual abuse and deprivation of liberty was caught in Argentina.
A man accused of intentional killing and violations of anti-smuggling laws was captured in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and another suspect wanted for membership in a criminal organization, extortion, and unlawful detention was taken into custody in Iran.
Two individuals wanted at the national level were also detained: one in the UAE on charges including drug importation and money laundering, and another in Greece for drug trafficking.
Yerlikaya emphasized that Türkiye will continue efforts to locate and apprehend fugitives abroad, saying that regardless of where they flee, members of organized crime groups and drug networks will be brought back to face justice.
He congratulated all units involved in the operations.
