Five individuals wanted under international red notices were apprehended in Georgia and have been extradited to Türkiye, Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Thursday.

In a statement posted on social media, Yerlikaya said, “We have brought five more criminals wanted with red notices back to our country. They will not evade justice. During this cabinet’s term, we have secured the extradition of 369 criminals to Türkiye.”

The minister specified that A.A.Y., A.D., and O.C., who were sought internationally under red notices, along with I.K. and G.Y., wanted on a national level, were captured in Georgia and handed over to Turkish authorities.

Criminals involved in sexual abuse of a child and murder

Yerlikaya added, “Coordinated by the Ministry of Justice and the General Directorate of Security’s Interpol-Europol Department, these individuals faced charges including qualified sexual abuse of a child, unlawful deprivation of liberty by force or threat, murder, attempted premeditated murder, escape from detention, insult, assault, illegal possession and carrying of firearms, arson, flooding, destruction, bombing, use of nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons, and membership in the FETO terrorist organization.”

He emphasized, “Regardless of the type of notice or the country they fled to, we will continue to locate and bring back members of terrorist organizations, organized crime groups, and drug traffickers to Türkiye. They cannot escape Turkish law enforcement. I extend my gratitude to the Ministry of Justice and all ministry personnel involved in the operation, as well as to the Interpol-Europol Department and the police directorates in Artvin and Ardahan.”
