Türkiye and Hungary's leading defense industry companies have added new links to their defense cooperation through agreements signed during Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's visit to Türkiye.
A comprehensive defense industry framework agreement was signed between the two countries.
In parallel, two agreements were signed between 4iG Space and Defense Technologies (4iG SDT) with Aselsan and Nurol Makina.
According to the agreement, 4iG SDT will acquire "exclusive distributor" rights in the Hungarian market for Gidran 4x4 vehicles through 2030.
The Gidran 4x4 is the Hungarian version of the Ejder Yalcin armored vehicle family produced by Nurol Makina.
"4iG SDT will become the only company authorized to officially sell and supply these armored vehicles to all potential users in the Hungarian market," according to the agreement.
The agreement encompasses the supply, development, and production of Gidran vehicles and forms part of the foundational framework agreements of Hungarian-Turkish defense industry cooperation.
Vehicle assembly and the production of certain subsystems will be conducted in Gyor, with the participation of the Hungarian company Raba.
The agreement between 4iG SDT and Nurol Makina completed the existing industrial and production cooperation between Raba and Nurol Makina.
"Raba's majority shareholdings are in the acquisition process by 4iG SDT," according to source material.
The latest agreement will enable all processes of the Gidran program, from production to sales to maintenance, to be conducted within a single corporate group.
To date, over 100 Gidran vehicles have been delivered for operational use. These vehicles were designed with customization through the participation of specialists from the Hungarian Armed Forces and companies affiliated with the Ministry of Defense.
Nurol Makina established Nurol Makina Hungary to support local production in Hungary. Subsequently, a joint venture with Raba Automotive was created.
The company is conducting intensive discussions about traffic with firms to establish the supply chain for Hungarian production.
The goal is to begin local production work next year.
"Plans call for over 400 vehicles to be produced in Hungary through the Nurol Makina and Raba partnership. This will increase the Gidran 4x4 numbers in the country fivefold," according to production planning.
4iG SDT and Aselsan signed an agreement regarding preparations for establishing a joint venture in Hungary to develop and produce remote-controlled weapon systems, anti-UAV technologies, and air defense solutions in the future.
