Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler announced that Türkiye has heightened security measures along its borders due to recent developments in Iran during an inspection visit to the eastern border region on Wednesday.
Guler, accompanied by Chief of General Staff Gen. Metin Gurak, Land Forces Commander Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, and Air Force Commander Gen. Ziya Cemal Kadioglu, visited the 4th Border Battalion Command in Baskale, which operates under the 6th Border Brigade Command.
The high-level delegation conducted inspections and held a video conference with unit commanders from the 3rd Army Command to assess the security situation along Türkiye's eastern frontier.
Addressing the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran, Guler condemned Israel's recent attacks on Iran, stating, "We condemn the illegal attacks launched by Israel against our neighbor Iran last Friday."
The defense minister accused Israel of attempting to spread conflict throughout the region. "Israel's lawless attacks against Gaza, Lebanon, and now Iran clearly demonstrate once again its intention to spread conflicts across the entire geography," Guler said.
He urged the international community to take immediate action against what he described as Israel's arbitrary actions that are pushing the region toward chaos.
Guler revealed that Türkiye has already enhanced security measures along its borders in response to recent events in Iran.
"Due to the recent events in our neighboring Iran, security measures at our borders have been increased," he confirmed.
The minister emphasized that Türkiye operates under a proactive security paradigm, coordinating closely with relevant institutions to evaluate all scenarios that could affect national security.
