Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that between July 25 and 31, 2025, law enforcement agencies conducted inspections on 2,845,632 vehicles, identifying 386,805 drivers violating traffic regulations.

According to Yerlikaya’s social media statement, 24% of the offenders exceeded speed limits, 5.6% neglected periodic vehicle inspections, and 5% failed to use seat belts.

Additionally, 3.2% were driving without valid licenses, 1.5% lacked mandatory liability insurance, and a very small fraction (0.002%) used unauthorized flashing or sound warning devices (known locally as “cakar” in Turkish).

Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of road safety with a message urging drivers to obey traffic laws: "Please follow traffic rules. Journeys exist to reunite you with your loved ones, not to separate you."

Türkiye has been intensifying traffic safety enforcement to reduce accidents and fatalities.

The Ministry of Interior coordinates traffic checks through the National Police and the Gendarmerie, targeting speed violations, safety equipment use, and legal compliance of vehicles.
