Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz stated that authorities must verify the PKK terrorist organization's self-dissolution and disarmament decision through on-ground implementation, emphasizing that relevant institutions will monitor the process closely, with no specific timeline available.
"First, we need to see this self-dissolution and disarmament decision materialize on the ground. Our relevant institutions will monitor and track this with sensitivity," Yilmaz said during a live broadcast on TV100 television, adding that "It's not easy to give an exact timeline in these matters. It needs to happen as soon as possible."
The vice president characterized the current period as a significant opportunity to rid Türkiye of terrorism, while cautioning about the ongoing nature of the process and potential disruptions.
"We have entered a very important period. However, this period is still an ongoing process," Yilmaz noted, warning that "there are many who try to sabotage these processes. There may be those who make provocations saying 'Let Türkiye's troubles continue' and 'Let terrorism continue.'"
He stressed that completing these processes in the shortest possible time remains the most crucial factor in preventing such disruptions.
Later addressing Israel's attack on the Madleen ship attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, Yilmaz condemned the action as "completely illegal intervention" and accused the Netanyahu administration of pursuing "genocide policies."
"Israel needs to abandon these inhumane policies immediately, ensure a cease-fire first, deliver uninterrupted aid to the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, and pursue a two-state solution within the UN framework for lasting stability," he stated.
Addressing economic matters, Yilmaz highlighted the success of Türkiye's Medium-Term Program, noting that annual inflation dropped from 75.5% in May last year to 35.4% this May.
"This clearly shows that our Medium-Term Program is yielding successful results. We expect this trend to continue in the next 6 months, and by year-end, Türkiye will be discussing inflation rates in the 20s," he stated.
The vice president emphasized the government's multi-dimensional approach to reducing inflation, including supply-side policies focused on increasing food production through smart farming applications, improved support systems, increased irrigation investments, and regional development programs like DAP and GAP.
Yilmaz announced the formation of six working groups under the Population Policies Board, covering legislation, economic support, education, health, work life, and communication-cultural aspects.
"We will meet at the end of this month or the beginning of next month to evaluate all proposals from these working groups and present them to our government's agenda and to our President," he explained.
The vice president also reiterated the government's commitment to replacing what he called the "coup constitution," stating that Türkiye deserves a civilian and libertarian constitution in the Turkish Century.
"President (Recep Tayyip) Erdogan established an 11-member commission as AK Party. We will present our perspective there. We're talking about a process that will emerge through common wisdom and conscience with preparations and ideas from other parties," Yilmaz said.
