Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Thursday with Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq at Al Alam Palace in Muscat, the final stop of his three-nation Gulf tour.
The meeting was held behind closed doors, according to Turkish diplomatic sources. Following their one-on-one talks, Erdogan and Haitham co-chaired a meeting between their delegations and attended a signing ceremony for several bilateral agreements.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues, Türkiye’s Communications Directorate said in a statement.
“Stating that Türkiye and Oman share deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties, President Erdogan noted that this visit further reinforced the solidarity between the two countries,” the statement said.
“President Erdogan stressed that cooperation with Oman will be enhanced in many fields, ranging from industry and economy to defense and communications,” it added.
The directorate also said Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye and Oman “share similar positions on many issues, particularly the Palestinian cause,” and expressed appreciation for Oman’s “efforts in its region based on mediation and dialogue.” He also said the two sides would “work jointly toward a two-state solution in Gaza.”
A total of 16 new documents were adopted between Türkiye and Oman following the meeting, the directorate said.
Oman is the final stop on Erdogan’s Gulf tour this week, following visits to Kuwait and Qatar.
