President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani signed various agreements and a joint declaration following the 11th meeting of the Türkiye-Qatar High Strategic Committee.
Following one-on-one and inter-delegation talks at the Amiri Diwan was known as Al Bidda Fort, Erdogan and Emir Sheikh Tamim chaired the 11th High Strategic Committee meeting.
According to a Türkiye's Communications Directorate statement, Erdogan and Al Thani co-chaired the 11th meeting of the Türkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee.
“The meeting addressed Türkiye-Qatar relations as well as regional and global matters,” said the statement.
“President Erdogan stated that Türkiye aims to enhance further its excellent relations with Qatar, which currently (shows) progress at an outstanding level in areas such as military cooperation, the defense industry, energy, trade, and investments,” the statement added.
Turkish president also underlined that the Türkiye-Qatar strategic partnership makes significant contributions to regional and global stability.
He also said that the recently established ceasefire in Gaza has provided much-needed relief to Palestinians, and reaffirmed that a two-state solution remains the only viable resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, noting that efforts toward this goal will continue, according to the statement.
“President Erdogan stated that Türkiye will support Syria’s recovery process and that cooperation with Qatar will proceed in all Syria-related areas, including energy, transportation, and humanitarian assistance,” said the directorate.
Türkiye and Qatar enjoy strong relations built on deep political, economic, and defense cooperation, it said.
An agreement signing ceremony followed the talks, held in the presence of both leaders.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani signed the "Joint Declaration Regarding the Eleventh Meeting of the High Strategic Committee Between the Republic of Türkiye and the State of Qatar."
The "Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Cooperation and Experience Sharing Between the Presidency Strategy and Budget Office and the Government of Qatar on Strategic Development Planning in Various Fields" was signed by Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, Trade Minister Omer Bolat, and Qatar National Planning Council Secretary General Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.
The agreement covers cooperation in strategic development planning across multiple sectors and mutual exchange of expertise and experience between the two nations' planning institutions.
Bolat and Qatari Trade and Industry Minister Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani signed a "Joint Ministerial Declaration Between the Trade Ministry and the Qatari Trade and Industry Ministry."
The declaration addresses trade and commercial cooperation frameworks between the two countries' trade sectors.
Presidency of Defense Industries head Haluk Gorgun and Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani signed a "Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Cooperation in the Defense Industry Field."
The agreement establishes a framework for defense industry cooperation between Türkiye and Qatar.
Following the official meetings, President Erdogan attended a dinner held in honor of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim at the Amiri Diwan. The dinner was closed to the press. Delegations from both nations attended the event.
President Erdogan later departed Doha for Oman aboard the "TRK" aircraft following his official visit to Qatar, conducted at the invitation of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim.
Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani, Qatari officials, Turkish Ambassador to Doha Mustafa Goksu, and other officials saw off President Erdogan at Hamad International Airport.
