Türkiye refuted on Saturday the claims of supplying Iran with arms that lead to the downing of US F-15E fighter jet.

The Disinformation Combat Center, known by its Turkish acronym DMM, issued the denial through its official social media channels, calling the allegations "deliberate psychological warfare and black propaganda" designed to damage Türkiye's standing as a regional mediator.

Claims target Türkiye's diplomatic credibility

The center said the allegations, which circulated on unspecified social media accounts and what it described as "disinformation-driven platforms," were groundless and bore no resemblance to reality. Without naming specific actors, DMM suggested the origin of the claims could be inferred, framing the episode as a coordinated effort to discredit Ankara's peace efforts rather than spontaneous misinformation.

DMM characterized the campaign as a "perception management operation" aimed at undermining Türkiye's internationally recognized diplomatic record. The statement warned that such narratives sought to "mislead international public opinion" and disrupt what it called the "delicate balance in the region," without elaborating on the specific regional crisis the claims appeared to reference.

Türkiye has in recent years positioned itself as a mediator in several overlapping regional conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, tensions in the South Caucasus, and dynamics involving Iran and its neighbors. Ankara maintains diplomatic relations with both Western governments and regional powers, a balancing posture that has at times drawn scrutiny from allied capitals.

The center concluded its statement by urging the public not to give credence to what it termed "malicious disinformation campaigns" and to treat claims from non-official sources with caution.

DMM, which operates under Türkiye's communications directorate, was established to monitor and counter information it deems false or damaging to national interests. Its statements carry official government weight, though the center does not typically provide independent verification mechanisms for its own rebuttals.
