Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will pay a visit to Türkiye on Jan. 30, 2026, according to Foreign Ministry sources.
During meetings between Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Araghchi, Türkiye is expected to underscore that relations between Türkiye and Iran, two countries with deep historical ties, are of key importance for regional security, stability and prosperity.
Sources said Türkiye is expected to emphasize the need to further develop bilateral relations through mechanisms such as the High-Level Cooperation Council established in 2014 and to call for intensified mutual efforts in line with the goal of increasing bilateral trade volume to $30 billion.
Within this framework, Türkiye is expected to stress the importance of strengthening cooperation in trade, energy and transportation connectivity, including border trade centers.
Türkiye is also expected to convey that it is closely following recent developments in Iran and that Iran’s security, peace and stability are of great importance for Türkiye, the sources said.
Ankara is expected to reiterate its opposition to military interventions against Iran and to draw attention to the regional and global risks such a step would pose. Türkiye is expected to state that it is ready to contribute to resolving current tensions through dialogue and supports reaching a peaceful solution to Iran’s nuclear program in the near term, offering assistance if needed.
Taking into account the role played by the terrorist group PKK’s Iran branch, PKK/PJAK, in recent unrest in Iran, Türkiye is expected to underline that recent incidents have demonstrated the urgent necessity of fully neutralizing PJAK for Iran’s security.
Within the scope of the second phase of the Gaza peace plan, Türkiye is expected to emphasize the priority it places on the rapid implementation of concrete steps on the ground, including the uninterrupted delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid, through mechanisms involving Türkiye.
Türkiye is also expected to express support for the reconstruction of Gaza to create conditions enabling Palestinians to remain on their land and live in peace and security. Ankara is expected to draw attention to the need for regional countries to act in solidarity and cooperation in the face of Israel’s actions targeting regional stability.
On Syria, Türkiye is expected to stress that consolidating peace and security will contribute to regional stability and to emphasize the importance of fully implementing the Ceasefire and Full Integration Agreement while preserving Syria’s territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty. Türkiye is also expected to highlight the need to maintain the ceasefire to avoid vulnerabilities in the transfer of Daesh detainees.
