The Turkish Foreign Ministry has issued a statement denouncing Israel’s recent actions in Syria, saying they violate the country’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
“We strongly condemn Israel’s military attacks conducted against Syria, which have expanded in scope and run contrary to the country’s territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty,” the statement read.
Ankara called for the attacks to be halted immediately and urged support for Damascus in its efforts to restore stability and peace.
“Türkiye will continue to support the vision of a Syria free from terrorism, secure, and preserving its territorial integrity, in line with the legitimate expectations of the Syrian people,” the ministry added.
The condemnation follows reports that Israeli troops carried out a raid early Tuesday in the village of Beit Jinn, southwest of Damascus.
According to Syrian state television, seven armored vehicles and around 100 soldiers stormed the village, detaining several residents.
Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency (AA) that Israeli forces opened fire on civilians protesting the incursion. A young man was shot dead, while seven others were detained.
Villagers described life under frequent Israeli incursions as filled with fear and displacement.
Despite criticism, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said Tel Aviv would continue its occupation of Mount Hermon, justifying the move as necessary for the protection of settlements in the Golan Heights and Galilee.
He also claimed the operations were aimed at safeguarding the Druze community in southern Syria.
