Türkiye will host a trilateral foreign ministers meeting with Jordan and Syria in Ankara on May 12, Monday, focusing on regional developments and security challenges, according to sources from the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will host his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, and Syrian counterpart, Asaad Al-Shaibani, for discussions expected to address the security situation in the region.
During the talks, Fidan will reaffirm Türkiye's strong support for the Syrian government's efforts to strengthen security and stability in its territory, ministry sources said.
The Turkish Foreign Minister is expected to emphasize that Israel must end its aggressive stance toward Syria and other countries in the region while highlighting the importance of regional ownership and cooperation.
"Regional solutions to regional problems" will be a central theme of the discussions, with Fidan underscoring the significance of solidarity among neighboring countries in tackling shared challenges.
Fidan will stress that there is no place for terrorist organizations in the region's future and reaffirm Türkiye's determination to ensure this outcome, according to ministry sources.
The minister is expected to emphasize that cooperation between Syria and neighboring countries in counterterrorism efforts would contribute to both regional and global security.
On the sidelines of the trilateral meeting, Fidan is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with both his Jordanian and Syrian counterparts. The Ankara meeting represents another step in diplomatic efforts to address complex regional security issues through multilateral dialogue.
