The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, warning that the attacks have raised security risks in the region to the highest level and could lead to global escalation.
In a statement released Sunday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said the U.S. attack on Iran's nuclear facilities on June 22 has brought regional security risks to their highest level.
"As Türkiye, we had drawn attention at every opportunity to the risk of the spread of the conflict that started with Israeli aggression in the region and the destabilization of the security environment. The attack carried out by the U.S. today (June 22) on Iran's nuclear facilities has raised this risk to the highest level," the ministry statement said.
The Foreign Ministry expressed profound concerns about the potential ramifications of the U.S. military action against Iran's nuclear installations.
"Türkiye has deep concerns about the possible consequences of the U.S. attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran's nuclear facilities. The ongoing developments may cause the regional dispute to be carried to the global level. We do not want this disaster scenario to come to life," the statement continued.
Türkiye called on all relevant parties to act responsibly and immediately halt mutual attacks to prevent further casualties and destruction.
"We invite all relevant parties to act responsibly, to mutually stop the attacks immediately, and to avoid steps that could lead to more loss of life and destruction," the Foreign Ministry stated.
The ministry also noted that the negotiations remain the only solution to disputes over Iran's nuclear program, calling for international support for diplomatic efforts.
"The only solution to the dispute regarding Iran's nuclear program is through negotiations. We call on the international community to support efforts to find a diplomatic solution between the parties," the statement said.
Türkiye expressed its readiness to fulfill its responsibilities and provide constructive contributions to resolving the crisis.
"Türkiye is ready to fulfill its responsibility and offer constructive contributions," the Foreign Ministry concluded.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced early Sunday that American forces struck three Iranian nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Following the U.S. strikes, Iran called on the U.N. Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to condemn the U.S. aggression and hold accountable those who violate international law.
The attacks marked the latest escalation in a U.S.-backed Israeli military campaign against Iran since June 13, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory attacks on Israel.
Israeli authorities said at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds injured in Iranian missile attacks since the conflict began.
Meanwhile, in Iran, 430 people have been killed and more than 3,500 wounded in the Israeli assault, according to the Iranian Health Ministry.
