The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed satisfaction with the decision to close the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group, which was established to resolve the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the Karabakh region.

In a written statement, the ministry said the closure of the Minsk Group and the dissolution of its associated structures, decided by the OSCE Council of Ministers on Sept. 1, 2025, is welcomed.

The statement highlighted that this historic decision, made possible through the joint efforts of both countries, represents a significant milestone in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The Minsk Group, established in 1992 under the co-chairmanship of Russia, the United States and France, had failed to produce a resolution to the Karabakh issue.

Azerbaijan had made the dissolution of the Minsk Group a condition for signing a peace agreement with Armenia.

Following the trilateral summit hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House on Aug. 8, where Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met, the foreign ministers of both countries jointly requested the OSCE to formally dissolve the Minsk Group.
