Türkiye's presidential communications director praised the decisions by Britain, Canada and Australia to recognize Palestine as a state, calling the moves a concrete demonstration of commitment to international law and universal human values.

Burhanettin Duran, who serves as communications director for the Turkish presidency, issued a statement welcoming the three countries' recognition decisions through his social media account.

"We welcome with satisfaction the decisions of Britain, Canada and Australia to recognize Palestine as a state," Duran said. "This step is a concrete indicator of the will to stand by international law and universal human values."

Countries taking stance are on 'right side of history'

The Turkish official emphasized that countries opposing Israel's attacks on innocent Palestinians in Gaza and recognizing Palestine are positioning themselves "on the right side of history." He expressed confidence that this development would encourage other nations and contribute to Palestine achieving its deserved status in the international arena.

Türkiye has long been a vocal supporter of Palestinian statehood and has frequently criticized Israeli military operations in Gaza. The country maintains that establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital remains essential for regional stability.

"We invite the international community to follow this historic step for the establishment of peace and justice," Duran stated. "As Türkiye, we will continue to support the establishment of an independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital and defend the legitimate cause of the Palestinian people in the strongest way on every platform."
