British defense contractor BAE Systems said production has begun on 20 Eurofighter Typhoon jets ordered by Türkiye.
The company plans first deliveries for 2030, according to its first-half 2026 financial results.
BAE Systems also secured a contract from the U.K. government. The deal covers training, support equipment and services for the jets.
Türkiye ordered the aircraft in October 2025.
"Securing a contract from the U.K. Government to provide the Republic of Türkiye with training, support equipment and services to its 20 Typhoon aircraft ordered in October 2025," BAE Systems said in its half-year statement.
"Manufacturing is already underway in the U.K. and across the Eurofighter partner nations, with first delivery scheduled for 2030," the statement added.
The training and support contract is worth about £2.5 billion ($3.36 billion), BAE Systems said.
Türkiye and the U.K. government signed the deal in March 2026. It builds on a Typhoon jet and weapons package agreed in 2025.
BAE Systems is the prime contractor on the deal.
The company will supply spare parts and repairs. It will also provide training and technical support. BAE Systems expects that support to run for the first three years after the jets enter service. It will cover training for pilots, engineers and maintenance crews.
On March 25, 2026, Türkiye and the U.K. signed a separate agreement. It covers technical and logistics support for the Eurofighter Typhoon fleet.
Türkiye's 20 new jets will join the Turkish Air Force in stages. Six aircraft are due in 2030. Eight more are due in 2031. The final six are due in 2032, completing the order.
The jets are built to the Tranche 4 configuration.
Their delivery package is expected to include air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions and mission pods. Turkish National Defense Minister Yasar Guler has said the package will also include the Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile.
Türkiye's Ministry of National Defense (MoND) said Turkish personnel will start heading to the United Kingdom in August 2026. They will train on the Eurofighter Typhoon. The U.K. Royal Air Force will train 10 Turkish instructor pilots. It will also train about 100 maintenance instructors. More pilots and maintenance staff will follow in later years.
The goal is to prepare the Turkish Air Force ahead of time. Officials want the operational and technical groundwork ready before the first new jet arrives in 2030.
The ministry addressed the training plan at a weekly press briefing on July 23, 2026. "Under the Eurofighter (EF) procurement process, flight personnel are planned to be sent to the United Kingdom in August 2026, with flight training set to begin shortly afterward," the ministry said.
"Under the signed contract, flight and maintenance personnel will continue to be sent to the United Kingdom over the coming years," the ministry noted.
Türkiye is also in talks to buy secondhand Eurofighter Typhoon jets from Qatar and Oman. The goal is to cover its combat aircraft needs until the new jets arrive.
Qatar operates Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 4 jets that are only a few years old. Qatar is set to supply 12 of the jets to Türkiye.
Türkiye had expected the secondhand delivery soon. But the timeline has reportedly slipped somewhat because of the war between Iran and the United States and Israel.
The secondhand jets are meant to bridge the gap. They would support the Turkish Air Force's combat aircraft needs until the new Eurofighter Typhoon jets enter service.
