Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday announced that he would visit Türkiye to hold discussions with different parties.
In a statement on social media, Zelenskyy said, “We have developed solutions that we will present to our partners. Doing everything possible to bring the end of the war closer is Ukraine’s top priority. We are also working to restart the exchange of prisoners of war and bring our captives home. We will revive the negotiations.”
Zelenskyy stated that he will visit Spain on Nov. 18 (today) as per the plan and provided information about his scheduled meetings in Madrid.
The Ukrainian president highlighted that he is holding critical meetings in Spain that have long been in preparation.
Russia and Ukraine held three rounds of renewed peace talks in Istanbul in 2025, resulting in limited agreements on the exchange of prisoners and civilians.
Memorandums were also exchanged outlining each side’s positions on ending the war, which began in February 2022.
However, momentum appears to have stalled since then.
Besides Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, as well as Saudi Arabia and Qatar to a lesser extent, have been involved in mediating humanitarian exchanges between Moscow and Kyiv.
