Türkiye has dismantled 328 organized drug crime networks and arrested more than 88,000 dealers since the start of the current cabinet term, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced, describing the results as proof of the government’s determination in the fight against narcotics.
Yerlikaya gave the figures at a briefing in Konya, saying the numbers represent “the numerical reflection of our determination and resolve.” He said authorities seized roughly 216 tons of drugs and 243 million pill-form narcotics.
He said operations target not only street sellers but the entire supply chain — producers, traffickers, logistics networks and demand drivers — and are paired with rehabilitation, education and public-awareness programs. “This poison’s single particle is significant and important for us,” Yerlikaya said.
He warned traffickers that “the state’s iron fist will be on their necks,” urging citizens to report suspicious activity and noting the 112 emergency call center is available 24/7.
