Pashinian: 'Provocative, irresponsible and unacceptable'

Prime Minister Pashinian condemned the flag-burning organized by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) during the Yerevan procession.

His office spokesperson, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, told Armenian media outlet Armenpress that Pashinyan considered such acts "irresponsible and unacceptable," adding that the burning of the flag of an internationally recognized state, particularly a neighboring country, "could not be evaluated in any other way."

National Assembly Speaker Simonyan joined the condemnation.

"This day is dedicated to remembrance, unity and life, whereas such actions are petty and unacceptable provocations aimed against peace and the future," he said, calling the act "senseless, shameful and strongly condemnable."

The burning of the Turkish flag has occurred at previous April 24 events in Yerevan.

In April 2025, activists burned both Turkish and Azerbaijani flags in Republic Square.
