At least 15 more Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded Saturday when Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd of civilians waiting for food aid near a distribution center in the central Gaza Strip, according to medical sources and witnesses.
The victims were among a large group of people gathered near the US-Israeli aid distribution centers near the Netzarim corridor in the central part of the enclave, medical sources told Anadolu.
Meanwhile, witnesses reported that Israeli military vehicles and drones fired indiscriminately at the crowd near the distribution site.
This marks another deadly incident involving Palestinians attempting to access humanitarian assistance amid a worsening crisis in Gaza.
Israel, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a genocidal offensive in Gaza since October 2023, killing over 55,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
Aid agencies have warned about the risk of famine among the enclave's more than 2 million inhabitants.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war crimes against civilians in the enclave.
