Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will visit Türkiye in response to an invitation from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun announced in a statement on his social media account that Aliyev will visit Türkiye on June 19 following an invitation from President Erdogan.
Altun noted in his post: "Within the framework of the visit, with the participation of our President and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the opening of the permanent housing project built in Kahramanmaras by Türkiye and Azerbaijan under the name 'Azerbaijan Neighborhood' after the earthquake that occurred in our country in February 2023 will be held."
"On the occasion of the visit, it is also envisaged to exchange views on Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations as well as current regional developments," he noted.
The visit comes at a time of significant regional tensions, reflecting Türkiye's active diplomatic role in regional affairs and the continued close partnership between Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
It was also announced that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian will visit Türkiye on June 20 following an invitation from President Erdogan.
Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan said in a statement to journalists that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian will visit Türkiye on Friday.
Simonyan stated that the visit will take place following an invitation from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"All regional issues will be addressed (in the meeting). This is a historic visit. Because this will be the first visit by an Armenian leader at this level," Simonyan said.
There are no diplomatic relations between Armenia and Türkiye officially. The borders between the two countries have been closed since 1993.
Yerevan and Ankara have been conducting negotiations at the level of special representatives since 2022 to open the border to third-country citizens and normalize bilateral relations.
The first meeting between Armenia and Türkiye representatives regarding the normalization process between the two countries was held in Moscow on Jan. 14, 2022.
In a meeting held in Vienna on July 1, 2022, between Armenian and Turkish special representatives responsible for normalizing bilateral relations, Ruben Rubinyan and Ambassador Serdar Kilic, an agreement was reached to allow third-country citizens to cross the Armenia-Türkiye land border and to start direct cargo flights between the two countries as soon as possible.
Both visits demonstrate Türkiye's active diplomatic engagement in regional affairs, hosting leaders from both Armenia and Azerbaijan despite their own complex relationship, while ongoing regional tensions continue to affect broader Middle Eastern stability.
