Bahrain's House of Representatives Secretary General Mohammed Al-Buainain strongly condemned Iran's strikes on Bahrain and other Gulf states at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) 152nd General Assembly in Istanbul.
He said Bahrain had faced "an unprecedented number" of Iranian attacks that targeted civilian areas and key economic infrastructure, including oil, natural gas, petrochemical, and aluminum production facilities.
Buainain told Türkiye's state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) on the sidelines of the IPU meeting that the Iranian strikes were both unexpected and deeply damaging.
"We strongly condemn the Islamic Republic of Iran. We did not expect such an action from this Muslim neighbor. On the contrary, we expected Iran to extend bridges of brotherhood—as Bahrain has always done," he said.
He described Bahrain as a country of peace, coexistence and interreligious harmony that had never been involved in wars.
"Bahrain faced an unprecedented number of Iranian attacks. The attacks were brought under control thanks to the heroism of Bahrain's defense forces, the efforts of the Interior Ministry and the dedication of health workers," he said.
Buainain said the strikes deliberately targeted Bahrain's economic foundations.
"Iran's attacks targeted civilian residential areas and infrastructure. The attacks also disrupted Bahrain's oil, natural gas, petrochemical and aluminium production, the lifeblood of the Bahraini economy, as Tehran targeted the factories where these products are produced," he said.
He said Iran's strikes constituted a serious violation of international law and recalled that both the U.N. Security Council and the U.N. Human Rights Council had unanimously condemned the attacks.
Buainain said Bahrain and the UAE had jointly submitted an agenda item to the IPU 152nd General Assembly specifically to formally condemn Iran's attacks on Gulf states.
The motion reflects a coordinated effort by Gulf states to use international parliamentary channels to register condemnation alongside the military and diplomatic responses.
Bahrain's Defense Forces confirmed the interception of 194 missiles and 515 drones launched by Iran since the beginning of the conflict.
Türkiye's state-run AA tally based on official defense ministry and information center data shows the UAE sustained the highest number of attacks, intercepting 563 ballistic missiles, 26 cruise missiles and 2,256 drones, while Oman recorded the lowest toll.
Other Gulf state figures:
Iran launched a total of at least 6,657 missile and drone strikes against U.S. bases and critical targets across seven Arab countries in 42 days.
Buainain said Bahrain's position on Palestine was "unwavering," reaffirming support for a two-state solution and Palestinian self-determination. He noted that Bahrain had provided significant food aid and essential goods to Palestinians through the Royal Charity Foundation.
He called for Israel to halt its attacks on Palestine in accordance with international law and U.N. resolutions. "Bahrain has always supported Gaza and stood by Palestine," he said.
He thanked Türkiye for hosting the IPU General Assembly, noting that bilateral relations between Türkiye and Bahrain were "at the highest level."
With Bahrain and the UAE formally tabling an IPU condemnation and detailed attack figures now on the multilateral parliamentary record, the Gulf states have opened a parliamentary track alongside their diplomatic and military responses to Iran's strikes.
