Bosnia and Herzegovina has once again been thrust into political turbulence as Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik faces efforts to strip him of his mandate.

Speaking exclusively to The Pavlovic Today, Dodik claimed the move is not just a domestic dispute but part of a larger struggle tied to U.S. politics—a campaign by Biden-era officials and their European allies to weaken him. Dodik was one of the loudest supporters of Trump during his run against Biden, and he claims the current situation is fueled by political actors from the Clinton–Biden political establishment.

'Biden-Era residue' behind move to oust me: Dodik

“That was all expected—it’s their mechanism. Nothing surprises me anymore,” Dodik said, describing the Central Election Commission’s bid to remove him as “Biden-era residue.”

He insisted the effort is designed “to stop me from speaking to Trump.”

MAGA ally in Balkans

Dodik, who openly wears a MAGA hat and describes Trump as “the savior of our civilization,” has long aligned himself with the U.S. president’s worldview.

In his telling, Western institutions—particularly the Office of the High Representative (OHR)—are extensions of Washington’s liberal establishment, working to dismantle Republika Srpska’s autonomy under the pretext of international oversight.

Schmidt at center of storm

At the heart of the controversy is Christian Schmidt, the German diplomat serving as Bosnia’s international overseer. Dodik insists Schmidt holds the role “illegitimately,” lacking confirmation from the U.N. Security Council. “Of course, behind him stood the Biden administration, the EU—and he began behaving, literally, like a bull in a China shop,” Dodik said.

Two-decade struggle with Washington

Dodik’s sharpest warnings focus not on Sarajevo or Brussels, but Washington. He portrays himself as a political target of the Clinton–Biden foreign policy establishment, which, he says, has been trying to remove him since the early 2000s.

“They are now making a celebration out of it,” Dodik said. “They want to see me out.”

By tying his political survival to a conversation with Trump, Dodik is reframing Bosnia’s internal power struggle as part of a global ideological battle—nationalism versus liberal globalism, sovereignty versus foreign control.
