France’s minister for foreign trade, Nicolas Forissier, aims to revitalize bilateral economic relations during his visit to Türkiye on Feb. 16-17, according to a French diplomatic source.
The source said Forissier will travel to Türkiye on Feb. 16-17 before visiting Albania on Feb. 18.
The visit to Türkiye comes in a context where dialogue between the two countries has resumed and improvements have been observed in bilateral economic and diplomatic relations, the source noted.
“Türkiye is an indispensable regional power,” the statement said, adding that Paris seeks to inject new momentum into relations with Ankara.
“Nicolas Forissier’s trip is driven by the desire to relaunch diplomatic and economic dynamics,” the source said.
The statement recalled that trade volume between Türkiye and France reached a record level of 23.8 billion euros in 2025.
It also noted that at least 143,000 people are employed by hundreds of French companies operating in the Turkish market.
French firms could invest an additional 5 billion euros in Türkiye over the next three years, the source said.
During his visit, Forissier is scheduled to meet with Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, Trade Minister Omer Bolat and Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacir.
He will also attend the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO) meeting.
The source added that France wants to discuss all issues related to decarbonization with Türkiye as part of efforts to bring fresh momentum to bilateral ties.
