Hamas said Wednesday that the participation of Türkiye, Qatar and Egypt in ceasefire negotiations in Egypt's Sharm El-Sheikh has narrowed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's room for maneuver as indirect talks continue over a potential truce in Gaza.

Izzat al-Risheq, a member of Hamas's Political Bureau, welcomed the involvement of senior officials from the three countries in the ongoing negotiations, which began Monday in the Red Sea resort city.

Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Chief Ibrahim Kalin, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Egyptian Intelligence Chief Hassan Mahmoud Reshad are taking part in the discussions, according to al-Risheq.

Hamas says talks limit Netanyahu's options

"We welcome the participation of Qatari Prime Minister Al Thani, as well as MIT Chief Kalin and Egyptian Intelligence Chief Reshad in the negotiation round in Sharm El-Sheikh," al-Risheq said in a statement on his Telegram account.

"This participation will give strong momentum to the negotiations toward achieving positive results to stop the war, and also narrows Netanyahu's room for maneuver to continue his attacks by sabotaging the negotiations."

Negotiations focus on Trump plan implementation

The indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israeli delegations focus on implementing U.S. President Donald Trump's Gaza plan. Security sources had previously confirmed Kalin's participation in the ceasefire talks.

Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari announced earlier that Prime Minister Al Thani would travel to Egypt to participate in the ongoing negotiations aimed at securing a ceasefire in Gaza.

The conflict has devastated the Palestinian territory since October 2023, with international mediators repeatedly attempting to broker a lasting truce and secure the release of hostages.
