Hamas called on the international community on Saturday to protect Palestinian women from ongoing “Israeli atrocities” in a statement made on International Women’s Day.
Palestinian women have been disproportionately affected by Israel’s military actions, with women and children accounting for 70% of the total 46,960 deaths reported by Jan. 19, 2025.
Hamas criticized the international community for not taking sufficient action to protect Palestinian women and condemned the failure to address these human rights violations.
The situation in Gaza has created a severe humanitarian crisis, with over 12,000 Palestinian women killed, and thousands more injured, detained or displaced.
Gaza has been severely devastated by Israel’s military campaign, with women and children representing the majority of casualties.
The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, for war crimes committed during the conflict.
Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its military actions in Gaza.
