The spokesperson for the armed wing of Hamas issued a warning on Saturday, saying Israeli forces would bear full responsibility if a hostage soldier is killed during an attempted rescue operation.

In a statement released via Hamas-affiliated channels, Abu Obaida, the spokesman for the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, said Israeli forces were besieging a location where the Israeli prisoner Matan Zangauker is believed to be held.

“We affirm clearly that the enemy will not succeed in recovering the prisoner Zangauker alive,” the statement read. “If he is killed during a rescue attempt, the occupation army will bear full responsibility.”

The warning comes amid ongoing Israeli deadly attacks in Gaza even Muslim's holy Eid, as efforts continue to secure the release of remaining hostages captured during Hamas’s October 7 attack.
